Two years ago, we were among the first in the country to sample the 450MT, which CFMOTO globally launched in the beautiful island of Palawan. Now at the 2026 Makina Moto Expo, the Chinese brand has officially introduced its bigger sibling, the 1000MT-X, with an SRP of PHP 745,900.

Same engine as the KTM 990 RC R

It’s no secret that KTM’s twin-cylinder LC8c engines, which are used across several KTM and Husqvarna models, are made in China through a partnership with CFMOTO. Naturally, CFMOTO has adapted this technology for its own lineup, and the 1000MT-X is powered by the same 990-class LC8c platform found in KTM’s 990 RC R.

While the 990 RC R’s 947cc, parallel-twin engine is tuned for outright performance, producing a claimed 130 PS and 103 Nm of torque, the 1000MT-X is calibrated for adventure and off-road capability. It delivers 112 PS at 8,500 rpm and 105 Nm of torque at 6,250 rpm, prioritizing usable mid-range power and control over peak output.

The 1000MT-X maintains a relatively lean setup for its class, with a dry weight of just 199 kg. Fully fueled with its 22.5-liter tank, it tips the scales at around 222 kg.

Other features include a fully-adjustable windshield, full-LED lighting, an 8-inch vertical TFT display, and fully adjustable KYB suspension paired with Brembo brake calipers for strong, controlled stopping power. It also comes equipped with ABS, cornering ABS, traction control, multiple ride modes, quickshifter, cruise control, and an adjustable steering damper for improved stability at speed.

For comfort and practicality, it adds USB-A and USB-C charging ports, heated grips, and a heated seat. Rounding out the package are 21” front/ 18” rear Pirelli Scorpion STR tires and a host of other adventure-focused features designed for both on and off-road use.

The 1000MT-X is now available at all CFMOTO showrooms nationwide, offered in Tactical Green, Zephyr Blue, and Aerolite Grey.
