It’s time you start taking CFMoto seriously

CFMoto might not be the brand you think it is.

As a motoring manufacturer, how do you build trust with the public? How can you prove that your machines have what it takes to deliver the power when needed, and stay reliable when it matters? One way is a trial by fire–entering your machine into the unforgiving world of motorsport. And CFMoto is doing exactly that, building motorsport prestige and competitive credibility, one podium at a time.

The Chinese motorcycle brand recently stood tall on the top step of the podium with Mario Román Serrano’s Adventure Ultimate Class victory at the 2026 Red Bull Romaniacs. This five-day event is an extremely hard enduro rally held annually in Romania and is recognized as one of the world’s toughest off-road motorcycle competitions. It’s a brutal mix of natural terrain and man-made obstacles designed to break both rider and machine. Still, CFMoto’s MT family dominated the competition, with riders winning all three class categories (Ultimate, Adventure Core, and Adventure Lite) on CFMotos.

For the second year in a row, CFMoto came in as a major sponsor of the event, bringing 40 riders from 15 different countries. The most prevalent model was the 450MT, with the larger 800MT and 1000MT-X also making an appearance. But regardless of displacement, the bikes ate everything thrown their way, from hand-assembled urban obstacles to single-track trails and even an abandoned mining facility. By sweeping the entire Adventure-class events, the 2026 Romaniacs essentially became a showcase for the MT lineup.

But conquering the Romaniacs is just one part of CFMoto’s growing motorsport story. Beyond enduro, the brand is also making waves in the grand prix scene, securing wins and podiums in MotoGP’s Moto2 and Moto3 series. The brand is currently competing with the Spanish Aspar racing team, putting their machines up against the very best in the world. And for a brand once doubted as “just another Chinese manufacturer,” they’re now commanding attention.

Even here closer to home, CFMoto is making its presence felt. The recently concluded CFMoto MT Challenge brought enduro riders from across the Philippines together for a grueling off-road obstacle course and trail run. It was a genuine test of skill and machine, with the winners of the challenge making their way to the Global MT Challenge finals in Spain.

But there is a bigger picture here.

Motorsports aren’t just thrilling weekend watches; they’re extreme testing grounds where parts, designs, and engineering are pushed to the absolute limit. Extreme race conditions expose weaknesses, highlight strengths, and force brands to innovate. Over time, those lessons trickle down into the bikes we can buy off the showroom floor.

What CFMoto is doing isn’t just gunning for a series title; they’re building their reputation race after race, at the same time refining their two-wheeled machines. And reputation matters. A lot.

All brands have to start somewhere. BMW didn’t become synonymous with the ultimate adventure bikes overnight. Ducati also didn’t earn its racing pedigree in a single season. These iconic names worked their way up through grit, persistence, and the drive to improve. What we’re seeing is CFMoto take on that same path.

It’s easy to be skeptical of a relatively young brand, more so one from China. But all that doubt fades when the bikes start winning races at the level of the world’s most demanding motorsports. CFMoto may be associated with budget-friendly commuter bikes rather than high-performance machines, but their story is just picking up pace.

They survived and swept Romaniacs. They can even hold their own at the pinnacle of motorcycle racing in MotoGP. When the best riders from around the world throw a leg over a CFMoto and come away impressed, it becomes clear that the brand’s reputation is no longer up for debate.

By investing in racing and proving its machines under the toughest conditions, CFMoto is rewriting what trust in a Chinese brand looks like. It’s definitely a long game, but it’s one that has worked for the world’s best manufacturers. Motorsport prestige isn’t just about trophies. It’s about showing people that the brand is serious, the machines are capable, and the manufacturer is committed to improving.

It’s easy to print figures on spec sheets and brochures, but the real world isn’t as forgiving as shiny showrooms. Motorcycles get used–even abused–daily, and riders want a bike that won’t let them down. CFMoto is working to earn that trust through direct action.

So, don’t underestimate a CFMoto the next time you see one on the road. They’re working hard building their racing cred one event at a time. If motorsport history has taught us anything, it’s that the brands willing to put themselves through the fire are the ones that eventually rise to the top.
