The CFMoto 1000 MT-X sets a new standard in the big displacement ADV segment

The new liter-class adventure-tourer combines Brembo brakes, KYB suspension, and Bosch tech at a market-disrupting price point.

CFMoto has never been one to ease itself into the big bike conversation. Instead, it’s been known to kick the door down with bikes that offer impressive specs at nearly unbelievable prices. Earlier this month at the Makina Moto Expo, the brand did exactly that by unveiling the 1000MT-X, a full-size adventure-tourer that goes straight after the heavy hitters.

Bikes like the Suzuki V-Strom 1050 DE, Honda Africa Twin and Yamaha Super Ténéré 1200 have long defined the segment, while European brands have dominated the tech arms race. The 1000MT-X shows up ready to challenge both, and it does it at a price that’s nothing short of disruptive.

At the heart of the bike is a 946.2cc parallel-twin engine putting out 112 horsepower and 105Nm of torque. Those are proper liter-class figures, right in line with what you’d expect from established players.

Power is sent through a six-speed transmission with a slipper clutch, and you get a bi-directional quickshifter as standard. That already sets the tone. This isn’t a stripped-down alternative. It’s a fully loaded machine aiming to match, and in some areas exceed, what rivals offer.

The chassis setup reinforces that intent. A steel frame is paired with a 48mm fully adjustable KYB USD fork and a fully adjustable rear monoshock. Suspension travel reaches up to 230mm depending on seat setup, while ground clearance sits at 240mm. That’s serious off-road capability.

Add the 21-inch front and 18-inch rear wheel combination wrapped in Pirelli Scorpion Rally STR tires, and it’s clear this bike isn’t just styled like an ADV. It’s built to be used like one.

Braking duties are handled by Brembo components, with dual 320mm discs up front and a 260mm disc at the rear. But where the 1000MT-X really separates itself is in its electronics. Bosch cornering ABS and three-stage traction control come standard, working seamlessly with multiple ride modes including a customizable option via the T-Box system.

You also get cruise control, which makes long-distance touring far more relaxed.

The rider interface is equally impressive. An 8-inch TFT display delivers all essential information clearly, while USB and Type-C charging ports keep devices powered on the go.

Heated grips and a heated seat add comfort in varying conditions, and a 20-level adjustable steering damper gives riders fine control over stability.

These are features typically associated with higher-end European bikes, yet they’re bundled into this package as standard.

In terms of size and usability, the bike hits the sweet spot for long-distance travel. A 1,525mm wheelbase provides stability, while the adjustable seat height of 830mm to 870mm makes it more approachable.

The 22.5-liter fuel tank supports extended rides, and at 222kg wet weight, it stays within expectations for a fully equipped liter-class ADV.

What really brings everything into focus is the price. At P745,900, the 1000MT-X undercuts most of its rivals by a wide margin, often by a few hundred thousand pesos.

And it does so without looking compromised. If anything, it feels over-equipped for the money.

CFMoto has been steadily rewriting its image over the years, and the 1000MT-X might be its strongest statement yet.

It’s a bike that blends performance, capability, and technology in a way that makes it increasingly difficult to ignore the brand. What used to be seen as an alternative is now shaping up to be a benchmark for value in the adventure touring space.
